What is a Petition for Authorization of Gender Reassignment?
Pursuant to Article 40 of the Turkish Civil Code, a transgender individual wishing to change their gender must obtain permission from the Court by initiating a legal action for this purpose. Should the conditions stipulated by law be met, the Court grants permission for gender reassignment surgery following the judicial proceedings.
